PRO Jagdish Thakkar Passes Away

Jagdish Thakkar, Public Relations Officer (PRO,) Prime Minister’s Office, passed away, today morning.

Jagdish Thakkar, 72 years old, was suffering from health issues since a few months and was undergoing treatment for the same since September at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

Jagdish Thakkar was a simple person and served many Chief Ministers of Gujarat. He started his career as a journalist of a local daily in Bhavnagar, Gujarat.

In 1970, Jagdish Thakkar joined the Information Office of the Government of Gujarat. Later, in 1985, he worked with Amarsinh Chaudhary, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was saddened by the demise of Mr. Thakkar and said, Mr. Thakkar was a wonderful man and liked his work.

Narendra Modi took to Twitter and conveyed his condolences to Mr. Thakkar’s family.

Extremely saddened by the demise of Shri Jagdish Thakkar, the PRO in the PMO. Jagdishbhai was a veteran journalist and I had the pleasure of working with him for years, both in Gujarat and in Delhi. He was known for his simplicity and warm-hearted nature.
