Ms. Draupadi Murmu, the President of India, successfully underwent cataract surgery on the 20th of November, Sunday.

The cataract surgery in Ms. Draupadi Murmu’s right eye was conducted at the Army Hospital (Referral and Research) Delhi, on Sunday.  The information was confirmed by the Rashtrapati Bhavan in a communique, issued on the 20th of November.  “The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu underwent cataract surgery of her right eye today morning (November 20, 2022) at the Army Hospital (Referral & Research), New Delhi. Surgery was successful and she has been discharged from the hospital,” read the issued communique.

According to sources, Ms, Draupadi Murmu has been discharged hours after the surgery and is doing fine at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.  

Furthermore, the operation was conducted by a team of doctors led by Brigadier Sanjay Kumar Mishra, the head of the eye department at the Army Hospital Research and Referral Cantt, Delhi.   It is to be noted, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Mishra, an ophthalmologist from the Indian Army Medical corps also performed surgery cataract surgery on Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, the former President of India and first lady Ms. Savita Kovind.  For this, Brigadier Sanjay Kumar Mishra also received a certificate of appreciation.
