Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi expressed grief over the demise of the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

On the 14th of May, Saturday, Mr. Narendra Modi took to Twitter and said, “I am deeply saddened to know about the passing away of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed. He was a great statesman and visionary leader under whom India UAE relations prospered.  The heartfelt condolences of the people of India are with the people of UAE.  May his soul rest in peace.” 

Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan passed away at the age of 73, as he suffered from a prolonged illness.   He was the 16th ruler of Abu Dhabi and the 2nd President of the United Arab Emirates.  He assumed office as the President in 2004 and was in position till his demise, May 2022. 

Besides Mr. Narendra Modi, the union ministers and the External Affairs Minister Mr. S. Jaishankar also expressed their condolences to the family of the UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed.
