Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 18th of December, would speak about the “beneficial provisions” of the new farm laws.

Mr. Modi is scheduled to address farmers of Madhya Pradesh, during an event called the Kisan Kalyan Sammelan.

The event is organised to explain details of the new farm laws, highlighting the benefits of the same to the farmers.

The Kisan Kalyan programme is organised in four levels — gram panchayat, block, district and state.

The event, which is going to be a virtual conference, came a day after hundreds of farmers of Madhya Pradesh extended support to the protesting farmers in Delhi.

The Farmers of Madhya Pradesh decided to begin a foot march from Morena.

According to an official close to the Kisan Kalyan Sammelan event, “PM Modi will address the farmers of the state around 2 pm through video conference and explain to them in detail the beneficial provisions of the new agricultural laws.”

The PM’s address will be telecast live across 23,000 villages of India and at all the district headquarters of Madhya Pradesh.

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan would also attend the programme from Raisen.

CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “The previous (Indian National Congress) Congress led State Government did injustice with the farmers by not transferring relief funds into their accounts. The previous Congress government did not even deposit the premium of Fasal Bima Yojna. But (the) BJP is determined to work for the welfare of farmers. We have already deposited the premium of Fasal Bima Yojna and are now going to transfer relief funds.”

In addition, after today’s event, the State Government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would transfer Rs. 1,660 crores to the accounts of 35 lakh farmers to compensate for crop loss.

Meanwhile, today’s State level event would be attended by nearly 20,000 farmers in Raisen.
