After this meeting, the Union Cabinet ministers are expected to conduct the monthly Cabinet meeting on the 24th of December.

Though the meeting was conducted at a time when the Nation is protesting the Citizenship (Amendment) Act [CAA,] 2019, it is not known if the ministers discussed the matter.

Protests against the CAA intensified in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, West Bengal, Assam, Hyderabad and Madhya Pradesh.  While many citizens were detained, many suffered injuries and many lost their lives. In Uttar Pradesh, the death toll rose to 9, whereas in Assam, the number of deaths stands at 5.
