Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 11th of April, conducted a 2nd video conference meeting with the chief ministers of all states to discuss the extension of the lockdown.

After the meeting, the Centre considered the suggestions of the state chief ministers and is likely to extend the ongoing lockdown by 2 weeks, till the 30th of April.

The video conference was organised to discuss the pandemic illness, the Novel Coronavirus, precautions and decision on the lockdown extension.  PM Modi attended the meeting wearing a face mask at his residence through a video conference.

Since the 21 day Nationwide lockdown is scheduled to end on the 14th of April, CMs of all the states and union territories discussed the post lockdown steps.  Recently, during the first all India party meeting, the Narendra Modi Government asked all the state chief ministers to make an action or plan for the post lockdown situation.  However, considering the worst situation and rising cases of the Novel Coronavirus, the Central Government agreed with the CMs and extended the lockdown.

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, Arvind Kejriwal, the CM of Delhi, Karnataka CM B.S. Yediyurappa, Punjab CM Captain Amarider Singh Gill and other CMs of states supported the extension and urged the Central Government to take a call on the same.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Keriwal welcomed the decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, “(The) PM has taken (the) correct decision to extend (the) lockdown. Today, India’s position is better than many developed countries because we started (the) lockdown early. If it is stopped now, all gains would be lost.  To consolidate, it is imp to extend it (sic.)”

B.S. Yediyurappa, the CM of Karnataka, also praised PM Modi for the decision and said to issue guidelines of the extended lockdown in a couple of days.

However, an official announcement regarding the extension of the lockdown is yet to be made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government
