On the 13th of December, Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Phase 1 of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

PM Narendra Modi arrived in Varanasi for a two day visit. He received a grand welcome at his Parliamentary Constituency by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other officials. The inauguration event was held at 1:30 P.M., on Monday.

Before the inauguration, Modi interacted with the construction workers who were involved in the construction of the corridor and showered flower petals on them as an appreciation of their efforts. He took a group photograph with the workers.

The Prime Minister also offered prayers at the Kaal Bhairav Temple and took a dip in the holy Ganga, before inaugurating the corridor.

The Phase 1 of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 339 crores. The foundation of the Project was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 8th of March 2019. In phase 1, a total of 23 buildings have been inaugurated, providing a variety of facilities to pilgrims visiting the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, including yatri suvidha kendras (tourist facilitation center,) vedic kendra, mumukshu bhavan, bhojshala, city museum, viewing gallery, food court and others.

Ahead of the inauguration, Mr. Narendra Modi offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. He also interacted with the workers, who constructed the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, which would connect Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Ganga Ghats. The new corridor would be a huge transformation in Kashi Vishwanath, aiming at an ease for pilgrims in Varanasi.

Besides the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, the Prime Minister of India also inaugurated the Kashi Vishwanath Dham.

Later in the evening, Mr. Narendra Modi would attend the Ganga Aarti at 6:00 P.M. He is also scheduled to attend a conclave, attended by chief ministers of several states. Chief ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and Deputy CMs of Bihar and Nagaland would attend the conclave.

Meanwhile, this is the third project that the Prime Minister is inaugurating in Uttar Pradesh. Last week, he launched projects worth Rs. 9,600 crore in Yogi Adityanath’s stronghold Gorakhpur and the Saryu canal project in Balrampur.

He is scheduled to visit the state for two more programs this month.
