Hours before the final results of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) started congratulating BJP leaders.

Though the results of the GHMC elections are awaited, early trends showing a tough fight between the BJP and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) is evidence the BJP established themselves as a strong opposition in the State.

The BJP is giving a tough competition to the ruling Government, the TRS.

With such a strong hold against the TRS in the GHMC elections, the BJP is trying for an independent Government in the 2023 Assembly elections.

During the GHMC elections, the BJP called their big leaders like Amit Shah, J.P.Nadda, the National President of the BJP, Smriti Irani, the Union Minister for Women and Child Department, G. Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the President of the BJP Telangana to campaigning for the GHMC elections.

The BJP cadre is also enthused with the party leadership sending all signals that they consider Telangana important for their plans.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, called Bandi Sanjay Kumar and boosted his morale.

The morale boosting call was to congratulate the Telangana BJP cadre and give them assurance of the Central leadership of the BJP to back the State unit.

The Telangana GHMC elections is one of the major elections apart from the Assembly elections.

The BJP took the GHMC elections seriously and made efforts, starting from the big and grand campaigns to releasing a manifesto.

By targeting Asaduddin Owaisi’s the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM,) K. Chandrashekar Rao’s the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the BJP made efforts to stand against the two strong parties of the State.

Though the TRS would emerge as the single largest party in the municipal elections, the BJP also performed well.

The BJP said, the Party may not need the support of the AIMIM to win the mayor’s post in Hyderabad.

As said by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, “They (the TRS and the AIMIM) do ILU, ILU (I Love You) behind closed doors.”

According to the BJP this could become another arsenal for the 2023 polls.

The party is likely to now focus on the Nagarjunasagar constituency, where sitting MLA Nomula Narsimha just died.

The counting for the GHMC elections votes is still underway.

Stay tuned for further updates.
