Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime  Minister of India, expressed condolences for the victims of the Kandupur Nellore Stampede incident.

On the 29th of December, Thursday, Mr. Narendra Modi announced an ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakhs for those who died in the Kandupur Public meeting stampede incident in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh.

The Prime Minister Office (PMO) took to Twitter and on behalf of PM Narendra Modi said, “Pained by the mishap at a public meeting in Nellore, AP.  Condolences to bereaved families.  May the injured recover soon.  An ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF (Prime Minister National Relief Fund) would be given to next  of kin of each of deceased and the injured would be given Rs. 50,000.”

It is to be noted, on the 28th of December, Wednesday, 8 people including two women, lost their lives due to a stampede situation in Kandupur, Nellore.   The incident occurred during the road show of Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the Kandupur region of Nellore district.  The eight deceased were said to be TDP workers, who were present to attend the meeting and died due to suffocation and shock amid the stampede situation.

Besides eight people’s death, many people were left injured due to the heavy rush of people who gathered to attend the roadshow on Wednesday night.
