On Monday, Pakistani forces opened ‘indiscriminate’ fire at a few posts near the Line of Control in the Poonch Sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army responded to this firing with full force. Lt. Col Manish Mehta, a defence spokesperson had said that “Pakistani army initiated indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars at 0930 hours (9:30 A.M.,) on Indian Army posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector.” He also said that the Indian army responded with full force and intermittent firing is still on.

The firing was initiated a few days after the death of a junior commissioned officer Naib Subedar S. Sanayaima Kom in an IED explosion. This explosion took place near the Degwar sector of Poonch on Saturday at 1:30 P.M. India has already launched an official complaint about continued ceasefire violations with Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissione, Syed Haider Shah. Over the last few months, Pakistan has regularly violated ceasefire orders alongside the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner is yet to give a response in regard to the ceasefire violations and also take any action in regard to this issue.
