The story of the Odisha Train Tragedy is not yet dead.  Although the restoration work has been completed and the Coromandel Express resumed its services normally, the families are still struggling to find their kin in morgues and other hospitals.

The Odisha hospitals are still crowded with patients, injured in the massive triple train accident are undergoing treatment and as many as 110 bodies are yet to be identified to be handed over to their families.

In between this chaos, a father who refused to accept the death of his son, finally found his son’s body who was in a morgue, but alive.  Heleram found his 23 year old son Biswajit, lying in a temporary morgue, who was breathing.

Getting into the details, Heleram was informed that his son who was traveling in the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express died in the tragic accident.  However, he refused to accept the death of his son.  He took an ambulance and traveled 230 kms, with his son in law Dipak Das.

After attempts to find his son, from one hospital to another, Heleram finally found his son in a temporary morgue.  After that, he was rushed to a hospital and was given an injection.  Later, considering his health condition, the doctors referred him to Cuttack Medical College Hospital.

Addressing the media, Dipak Das said, “We never gave up.”  He further said, “We went around asking people, hoping to get leads on where to go next.  One person told us that if we could not find anyone in hospital, we should look at the Bahanaga High School, where the bodies were kept.  We could not accept it but anyway we went.”

The Balasore Odisha Train tragedy has killed 278 people and left thousands of people injured.   Furthermore, a high level probe to ascertain the reason behind the massive tragedy is underway.
