On Monday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested seven Kashmiri separatist leaders. The seven men were caught having connections with funding terror activities in Kashmir Valley.

The accused have been identified as Naeem Khan, Ayaz Akbar, Meraz Kalwal, Bitta Karate, T. Saifullah, Saheed Ul Islam and the son in law of Politician Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Altaf Ahmad Shah.

The officials nabbed Karate in New Delhi while the others were arrested from Sri Nagar.

For further proceedings, the seven leaders will be taken to Delhi on Monday.

The Investigation Agency has been tasked to follow the money in attempts to immobilize terror group activities in Kashmir.

The NIA raided the arrested men’s houses and found Rs. 2 crores in cash and letters with letter heads from terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Since the rise of militancy in Kashmir this is the first time intelligence agencies have tracked down the funding of terror groups.
