A new mutation of COVID-19, the XE variant has been detected in Gujarat, making it the second case in India.

On the 9th of April, Saturday, a person in Gujarat has been infected with Coronavirus variant XE.

Previous to Gujarat, Mumbai Civic reported a case ofCOVID-19 XE variant on April 6. As per the WHO, the new variant is expected to be more transmissible than the other variants.

It is to be noted, that recently the world was hit by a third wave of the Novel Coronavirus also known as the Wuhan virus, causing lakhs of lives and infecting millions of people. Another mutant is said to be dangerous and more transmissible, therefore, the governments of various nations urged people to take precautionary doses also known as the third COVID-19 dose.  In India also, the booster dose vaccination is set to begin on the 10th of April, for 18 plus eligible people, at a private vaccination center.
