On the 19th of May, Thursday, the Supreme Court (SC) announced its verdict in the decades-old case against the Indian National Congress (INC) leader Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu.

According to sources, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu has been given one-year imprisonment and a fine in a three-decade-old road rage case.

On May 19, the Top Court was reviewing a petition and announced the verdict in a road-rage accident that happened 30 years ago, which killed one person.

Although Sidhu opposed the judgment saying, there is no evidence, the bench comprising justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul announced the verdict.  Now, along with one year of imprisonment, the Supreme Court bench also directed the INC leader to submit a  bond and fine amount in court.

It is to be noted, as per legal experts, that the imprisonment and fine in an old road rage case would not impact the political career of Navjot Singh Sidhu and he still could file for the upcoming elections.
