On the 29th of July, Friday, the Parliament session resumed, after being adjourned for a day, on the 28th of July, Thursday, amid protests during the ongoing Monsoon Parliament Session.

According to sources, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned, after oppositions staged a protest against the suspension of Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Parliament Session.  Furthermore, chaos erupted after Mr. Aadhir Ranjan Chowdhary, a leader of the Indian National Congress (INC) insulted the new President of India Ms. Draupadi Murmu, referring to her as “Rashtrapatni.”  The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the INC for the derogatory remark and demanded an apology to Ms. Draupadi Murmu. 

Meanwhile, the leaders of the opposition parties continued their protests and shouted slogans on various issues, including price rise, GST, suspension of MPs, and illegal liquor racket in BJP-ruled Gujarat. 

Earlier in the day, proceedings in both houses remained stalled amid continued protests from the Indian National Congress (INC) led the opposition. Now the proceedings have been adjourned for another day, the 29th of July.  With this, the session has been adjourned till the 1st of August, Monday.

Meanwhile, the total number of suspended MPs in the Parliament now stood at 27, including three MPs, suspended on the 29th of July.
