The Government said on Monday, the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, invited the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Washington DC on June 25-26.

The Ministry of External Affairs in a press release said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Washington DC on June 25-26, 2017, at the invitation of the President of the United States of America, The Honorable Donald J. Trump.”

The MEA said, “Their discussions will provide a new direction for deeper bilateral engagement on issues of mutual interest and consolidation of a multi dimensional strategic partnership between India and the US.”

This will be Modi’s first visit to the US for talks after Trump took charge on January 20, 2017. The Indian PM will hold an official meeting with Trump on 26 of this month. This is being seen as an opportunity to create better ties and understand the new President of US.
