The Bahujan Samajwadi Party leader Mayawati on Friday made her brother Anand Kumar the Vice President of the BSP party. The leader, however, put a clause that this will only be possible if he never becomes a lawmaker for the Chief Minister.

After a party meeting with all the members, Mayawati announced “I announce my brother Anand Kumar as the party’s national vice president with the condition that he will never become MP, MLA, minister of the chief minister.” The minister also spoke about her health condition for the first time with the media. She said after she lost a gland in her throat in 1996, she was forced to read from written texts. She said, “One of the two glands in my throat was removed by doctors in an operation and so I cannot stress my throat too much.”

There have been various speculations about who will be the successor to Mayawati’s position in the party. This was when her brother started attending party meeting and also BSP’s leadership meets. His appointment as the vice president collided with the decision of the Income Tax Department to examine all the firms related to Kumar.

In the beginning of April, there were searches and raids by the IT department on firms and offices of Kumar. The sleuths alleged that after the note ban, Rs. 1.43 crores were deposited in his accounts. Also, according to reports and proofs, the Income Tax Department also said that Anand Kumar’s Wealth grew by many folds when she was the CM of Uttar Pradesh in between 2007 and 2014.
