In a breaking news, the judicial custody of Mr. Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy CM of Delhi and a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been extended.

On the 3rd of April, Monday, the Delhi Rouse Court reviewed a petition filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seeking extension of custody in the Delhi Excise Policy scam.  The court extended the remand with the CBI till the 17th of April.

It is to be noted, this is the third time that Mr. Manish Sisodia and the AAP led Delhi Government have been disappointed.  Despite several bail pleas, the AAP leader failed to get a bail.   Notably, Mr. Manish Sisodia is under judicial custody since the 6th of March, as he has  been named as a prime accused in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam.

Besides the CBI, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also registered a case against Mr. Manish Sisodia, in an alleged money laundering case in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam.

The extension of Mr. Manish Sisodia’s judicial custody is a major drawback for the Arvind Kejriwal led AAP Government in Delhi, especially when the party is planning to contest the upcoming 2024 elections.

Meanwhile, an investigation into the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam is underway.
