In Punjab’s Bathinda region, some unidentified people vandalized a statue of Mahatma Gandhi, located at a public park in Ramman Mandi.

The incident happened on an intervening night between the 14th and the 15th of July, Thursday and Friday, confirmed the Ramman Mandi Police on the 16th of July, Saturday. As per the police, some unknown people entered the park and vandalized the statue of the freedom fighter and the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

Furthermore, the Bathinda Station House Officer (SHO) (Sadar) Harjot Singh Mann said they are investigating the matter, and have registered a case at Ramman Mandi Police Station.  In addition, Mr. Ashok Kumar Singla, the president of the District Urban Congress, demanded the immediate arrest of those who were behind the incident and condemned the attack.

Moreover, after the locals got to know about the incident, they also strongly condemned the vandalism and demanded strict action.

On the other hand, the police have registered a case and assured to nab the culprits soon.  They even launched an investigation and are examining the CCTV footage of the area.

The investigation is underway.
