Nawab Malik, the spokesperson of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP,) on the 4th of January, said due to confusion and addition in ministries, the allocation of portfolios would be delayed.

Mr. Malik said, “The reason for the delay is not due to anything else but because we are considering creating new departments, so its taking time. By Monday, portfolios will be allocated.”

While the NCP leader mentioned the delay is due to the creation of additional departments, Sanjay Raut, a leader of the Shiv Sena, said the delay is due to internal disputes between the alliance parties.

Sanjay Raut said, “There are no issues of portfolio distribution in Maha Vikas Aghadi. The partywise portfolio allocation has taken place already. Now, there seem to be differences within the parties.”

Led by the Shiv Sena, Maharashtra is currently under the rule of an alliance of the NCP, the Shiv Sena and the Indian National Congress (INC.)

Uddhav Thackeray, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, expanded his Cabinet recently and now, discussions regarding the allocation of portfolios are underway.

Initially, the alliance of the NCP, the Shiv Sena and the Indian National Congress (INC) was scheduled to announce the portfolios on the 3rd of January.  However, due to the ongoing discussions, the date was rescheduled to the 6th of January.
