On the 17th of July, Monday, a person identified as Badal Sharm was killed and three others identified as Kapil, Suresh Sharma and Khemchand were left injured in a cloud burst incident.

According to sources, in Kullu (Himachal Pradesh) Kias Village, a cloud bursted leading to the on spot death of Badal Sharma. Mr. Rajesh Thakur, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP,) Kullu headquarter confirmed the incident and said, “One dead, 3 injured and 9 vehicles damaged in a cloudburst in Kullu’s Kias village.”

Furthermore, a rescue operation has been launched in the region to help those trapped in the region after the cloudburst incident.

Himachal Pradesh rainfall has created widespread destruction in the hill state, leading to cloudbursts, landslides, and floods that claimed 108 lives so far, confirmed the official data released last week. 

Among all the affected states in North India, Himachal Pradesh remains the hardest hit, after which Union Home Minister Amit approved the advance release of the second installment of the central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) amounting to Rs. 180.40 crore.

In addition, a total of 11 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along with rescue boats and other necessary equipment have been deployed for rescue operation in Himachal Pradesh.
