Rahul Gandhi, the Member of Parliament (MP) of Wayanad, sought help from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the people affected by Kerala floods.

On the 8th of August, Rahul Gandhi addressed the media and said, “I am going to call the prime minister and mention to him that Wayanad is in need of assistance.”

Rahul Gandhi also assured the people of his Constituency the workers of the Indian National Congress (INC) will help in rescuing them.

Later, he informed he is in touch with the collectors of Wayanad, Kozhikode and other regions and is updated with the measures being taken for the rescue operations.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) responded to the request of Gandhi and assured to provide the necessary help to the residents.

In Wayanad, approximately 25 people died due to heavy rains, landslides and floods till now.  The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert in Wayanad, Kerala.

INC member Rahul Gandhi also spoke to Pinarayi Vijayan and asked for assistance in the Constituency.

According to sources, Kozhikode and Wayanad witnessed approximately 24 landslides till the 9th of August.

The rescue operations are underway.
