B.S. Yediyurappa, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, will soon allocate portfolios to the newly appointed Cabinet Ministers.

On the 21st of August, B.S. Yediyurappa addressed the media and said, “It will be done by tomorrow or the day after.”

On the 20th of August, 17 members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took oath as the Cabinet Ministers of Karnataka.  Vajubhai Vala, the Governor of Karnataka, administered the oath to the ministers.

Speaking about the portfolios of the ministers, Yediyurappa said after consulting with the BJP, the Party will allocate the ministries to the Cabinet Ministers.

The Governor and the Speaker of Karnataka Assembly approved the expansion of Government with 34 ministers.  The BJP inducted 17 ministers, whereas the remaining ministers are yet to be announced.

As of now, the Karnataka Cabinet has 18 ministers, including B.S. Yediyurappa.

The newly inducted ministers are on a two day tour to visit the flood hit areas to review the situation.

According to sources, the decision to induct remaining the 16 ministers will come after the decision about the 15 rebel Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of the Janata Dal (Secular,) who resigned from the Party.

The decision regarding the resignations of the MLAs is pending with the Supreme Court (SC.)  After the decision of the SC, the BJP may welcome the MLAs and increase the strength of the BJP in the State.
