In Karnataka, the State Assembly elections is underway and the voting started at 7:00 A.M., on the 10th of May.

Parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) are in the fray to form the next government and win the elections.  For the 224 Assembly seats, approximately 5.30 crores voters would cast their votes, to choose the winning party.

Of the total voters, 2.66 crore are males,  2.63 crores are female voters and 4,927 transgender persons in the state, voting at 58,540 polling stations in the State.  The voting would continue till 6:00 P.M., today, amid tight security beefed up at all polling stations, ensuring the smooth conduct of the elections.

Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge, the President of the INC and Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, urged the voters to vote for their respective parties.

After victory in 2008, the BJP is ruling the State, making it its territory.  However, in 2023 elections, the opinion polls suggest that the Congress could be in lead, making tables turn for the State.

The official results of the Karnataka Assembly elections would be announced on the 13th of May.
