The 4th phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections is underway on the 16th of December.

The voting began at 7:00 A.M., and continued till 3:00 P.M in Jamua, Bagodar, Giridih, Dumri and Tundi.  The polling in the remaining 10 constituencies would continue till 5:00 P.M.

A total of 221 candidates, including 23 women, are contesting the Jharkhand Assembly elections.

The Jharkhand Police deployed security personnel in all the 15 constituencies where this phase of the elections is being held.

Vinay Kumar Choubey, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jharkhand, assured smooth and impartial voting would be held across the State.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and urged the voters to exercise their franchise in large numbers.  The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominated its candidates for all the MLA seats in Jharkhand and aims to win the elections.

In the fourth phase, a total of 47,85,009 individuals, including 22,44,134 women and 81 third gender citizens, are eligible to vote.

Till 11:00 A.M., the State recorded a voter turnout of 28.56 %.  The voter turnout was 44.65 % till 1 P.M.

The remaining 1 phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections is scheduled to be held on the 20th of December.

The results of the Jharkhand Assembly elections would be announced on the 23rd of December.
