On the 1st of October, Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir police confirmed the identity of two Jaish e Mohammad (JeM) terrorists killed in an encounter in Baramulla district.

Addressing the media, the Jammu and Kashmir police said, the deceased have been identified the slain terrorists as Yawar Shafi Bhat, a resident of Kalampora in Pulwama and Aamir Hussain Bhat, from Veshro in Shopian.   The police said, “As per police records, both of them were categorised terrorists and had recently joined terrorist ranks.  Both were involved in criminal cases, including attacks on police/security forces and civilians.”

Furthermore, the Jammu and Kashmir police also said, the preliminary investigation and intelligence based inputs revealed that the killed terrorists were tasked to attack the ongoing Army Recruitment Rally (Agniveer) in Baramulla.  Their major agenda for the attack was to derail the recruitment rally and disturb the youth who are eager to join the Indian Army.

On the 30th of September, Friday, an encounter broke out between the militants and the security forces, after an intelligence input informed them about the presence of terrorists in the region.  On Friday, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by the police and army, following which incriminating materials, arms and ammunition were recovered.
