Mr. Madhur Verma, the senior Indian Public Service (IPS) Officer was appointed as the head of the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB.)

Mr. Madhur Verma is an IPS officer of the 2005 batch. Before being appointed as the ACB Head, Mr. Madhur Verma was an additional commissioner in the Delhi police’s armed police department.

Highlighting Mr. Madhur Verma’s career, he has earlier worked as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of the Crime Branch, DCP of the police’s North district, and the New Delhi district.  In addition, Madhur Verma was also the Delhi police’s public relations officer until mid-2019.

It is to be noted, that IPS Madhur Verma succeeded Special Commissioner Sunil Kumar Gautam, a 1989 batch IPS officer, who was heading the ACB until the 9th of August, Tuesday.  After the transfer, Mr. Sunil Kumar Gautam would report to the Delhi Police where he would be given a new posting.

It is to be noted, that this is the third time in the past six decades that the Government of India appointed an officer from a different cadre to head the police force in Delhi.
