India’s Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 infection cases are increasing every passing day with a huge jump.  In the last two days, the number stood at 67,152 cases from the previous 56,342 cases.

In the last 24 hours, India reported a total of 4,213 cases, which was confirmed by the Union Health Ministry on the morning of the 11th of May.

With the new 4,213 COVID-19 cases, the tally of the fatalities due to the infection rose to 2,206. Of the total cases, 44,029 are active, 20,916 recovered/discharged and 2,206 people have lost their lives.  

Maharashtra continues to be at the top of the tally with 22,171 cases and 832 fatalities, followed  by Gujarat with 8,194 cases and 493 deaths.  Other states with high number of cases are Delhi (6,923,) Tamil Nadu (7,204,) Rajasthan (3,814,) Madhya Pradesh (3,614) and Uttar Pradesh (3,467.)

With these increasing cases, many state governments are now chalking out the strategies to live with the Coronavirus and planning to exit the lockdown.  In a few non containment zones, relaxations like functioning of private companies, opening of neighbourhood shops, permission to travel within states are also announced.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on the 10th of May, reported 75 % patients showed no or mild symptoms and said, the City “has to learn to live with coronavirus.”

Meanwhile, globally, the Novel Coronavirus affected 4,181,218 cases.  Out of the total, 1,493,490 recovered/ discharged and 283,876 deaths till the 11th of May.
