The Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 has become one of the major concerns in states like Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Haryana.

Compared to other states, these 4 states report the biggest single day spike in the cases of the Novel Coronavirus.  While Maharashtra is the only Indian state to cross a mark of 1 lakh COVID-19 cases, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Haryana  are showing the worst results with the increasing cases.

Besides, these four states, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are also the worst hit COVID-19 states.

In West Bengal, Howrah and Kolkata are two containment zones which recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases.  In less than 10 days, the State recorded 10,244 cases from initial 3,000 cases at the end of May.

Out of the total 10,244 cases, Kolkata reported 3,356 cases and Howrah has 1,620 cases.  Other districts with cases above 500 are North 24 Parganas (1,424) and Hooghly (628.)

In Delhi, nearly 1,300 to 1,800 new cases are being recorded everyday. Initially it was below 1,000 and now with the high spikes, Delhi has a total of 36,824 cases of the Novel Coronavirus, and all the district of Delhi is said to be containment zones for the spread of the virus.

Tamil Nadu, the second worst affected state witnesses a single day spike more than 1,300, initially the spike in the cases was below 700.   Tamil Nadu has the highest cases after Maharashtra and stands at 40,698 cases of the Novel Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, India reported 11,458 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus, taking the total tally to 3,09,360.  Despite rise in cases, the Indian Council Medical Research (ICMR) and Union Health Ministry said, India did not enter community transmission, the third stage of the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.

The Union Health Ministry confirmed the cases on the morning of the 13th of June.

The Union Health Ministry said, “The total number of cases surged to 3,08,993; 386 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. There are 1,45,779 active cases, 1,54,330 cured/discharged/migrated and 8,884 deaths in the country so far.”  It further added, “India crosses 3 lakh mark as it reports the highest single-day spike of 11,458 new Covid cases.”

Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress (INC) worried about the rising COVID-19 cases said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” – Anonymous.”

Meanwhile to curb the spread of the Novel Coronavirus, the Punjab Government decided to impose lockdown on weekends,  shops and other stores would be closed by 5:00 P.M., only essential commodities stores would remain open till 7:00 P.M.

The Punjab  Government approved a detailed weekend and holiday restriction guidelines, as per which inter district movement will be barred except for e pass holders and only shops dealing with essential commodities and services would be allowed to operate on all days of week.

Meanwhile, globally the Novel Coronavirus affected as many as 7,739,424.  Out of the total  3,344,880 active cases, 428,336 died and 3,966,208 recovered/discharged till the 13th of June.
