The Indian armed forces, on the 2nd of May, released a special video honouring the frontline Coronavirus warriors.

In the special video of 2 minutes 23 seconds , the forces acknowledged all the service providers like medical staff, sanitation staff, police personnel and doctors fighting the virus and ensuring citizen’s safety.

The video features the struggle of these frontline workers while providing their services with the theme song, “Saare Jahan Se Accha.”

Besides, the Indian Air Force, the Indian Army and the Indian Navy announced a series of activities like fly pasts, displays by army bands and lighting of warships as a tribute to these warriors.

General Bipin Rawat, the Chief of Defence Staff, during a press conference on the 1st of May, announced the tribute from the Indian military as a gratitude for the Coronavirus warriors.  The tribute would be given through an event scheduled on the 3rd of May.

Speaking about the details of the 3rd May programme, the activity would begin with a wreath laying at the Police Memorial in the national capital for the sacrifice by police and paramilitary forces.

Later from 10 A.M., to 11:00 A.M., India would witness flypasts by fighter and transport aircrafts of the Indian Air Force (IAF) at various locations.  It will fly over the COVID-19 designated hospitals, showering petals as a tribute to the medical team.

Colonel Aman Anand, the Spokesperson of the Indian Army said, “Aerial salute from the Armed Forces will be flown as low as 500 metres so that everyone is able to witness the same from the safety of their homes.”

In the evening, the Naval ships would light up fire in solidarity at the ports of Mumbai, Porbandar, Karwar, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Kochi and Port Blair.

The Defence Ministry released a statement regarding the same.  It read, “During the current crisis, it is the doctors, nurses, policemen, media, sanitation workers, delivery personnel, bank employees, government employees and local store owners who have put their lives on the line to ensure that we as a nation are protected and cared for adequately. These are the invisible hands which have held the country together in these challenging times. The armed forces wish to thank these proud Indians for their selfless service.”

The events would start from 10:00 A.M., on the 3rd of May, following all the guidelines of social distancing.

Indian Armed Forces shared the video to pay tribute to the frontline warriors of the pandemic illness, Novel Coronavirus, which infected 37,336 people and claimed 1,218 lives.
