Mr. Rajnath Singh, the Union Defence Minister, on the 6th of December, met with his Russian counterpart Mr. Sargey Shoigu.

The meeting was held in Delhi, while Sargey Shoigu’# visit to India with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

During the meeting, Mr. Rajnath Singh and Mr. Sargey Shoigu held discussions over military cooperation and signed the Programme for Military Technical Cooperation deal. 

The two countries’ defence officials meet annually to discuss military technology, to strengthen and develop the military security in cooperation, for India and Russia. Later, they will renew military cooperation deals 2021-2031 and sign 2+2 ministerial dialogue. 

India and Russia on Monday inked agreements for the procurement of AK-203 assault rifles and protocols on amending cooperation in the field of Kalashnikov series small arms manufacturing. Defence minister Rajnath Singh and his Russian counterpart General Sergey Shoigu signed a contract for procurement of over six lakh AK-203 assault rifles through Indo-Russia Rifles Private limited and an agreement on military-technical cooperation from 2021-2031.
