On the 2nd of December, the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases reached close to 9.5 million cases in India.

On the 2nd of December, the nation reported 36,604 new cases. India has been recording less than 40,000 cases since the past few days.

Besides 36,604 new cases, the Country recorded 501 fatalities.

Stating the better situation of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases, the Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said the top five states that have shown a decline in active cases during last month are Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.

In addition, the top five states showing a rise in active cases are Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan.

The cases were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry and the data is available at the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)

According to MoHFW data, the number of positive cases in India is 9,494,710, of which active cases are 4,28,664, recovered cases are 8,932,647 and deceased stand at 1,38,122.

Addressing a press meet on the 1st of December, Rajesh Bhushan said, “Cumulative positivity rate has decreased in India from 7.15% to 6.69% during November 11 to December 1 period. In November 2020, the number of recoveries has been more than the number of new Covid-19 cases.”

The recovery rate from COVID-19 also increased and stands at 94 % and fatality rate is at 1.45 %.

In addition, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) India conducted more than 14.13 crore tests for the detection of the Novel Coronavirus.

With the aforementioned updates, India is still among the countries having the lowest number of COVID-19 active cases and deaths.

However, in terms of total positive cases, India is on the second position with 9.44 million cases. The first nation with nearly 11 million positive COVID-19 cases is the United States of America (U.S.A.)
