INC, Rahul Gandhi, PM Modi And Others Pay Tribute To Rajiv Gandhi On 78th Birth Anniversary

The Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 20th of August, paid tribute to the late Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India, on his 78th birth anniversary.

Senior INC leaders Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh visited Veer Bhumi, the memorial of late Rajiv Gandhi in Delhi and paid their respects.

Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the INC, took to Twitter and remembered Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion.  He said, “पापा, आप हर पल मेरे साथ, मेरे दिल में हैं। मैं हमेशा प्रयास करूंगा कि देश के लिए जो सपना आपने देखा, उसे पूरा कर सकूं।”

Rajiv Gandhi served as the Prime Minister of India after the assassination of his mother and the former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi between 1984 to 1989.   He assumed office at the age of 40 to become the youngest individual as the Prime Minister of India. 

He served as the PM  till the 2nd of 1989.

In May 1991, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suicide bomber, while campaigning in Tamil Nadu’s Sriperumbudur area. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to Twitter and paid his tribute to Rajiv Gandhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and said, “On his birth anniversary, tributes to our former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi.”

The Indian National Congress Twitter handle also posted a tribute, “वो भारत के लाल थे,

राजीव उनका नाम।

अपने दृढ़ इरादों से,

बढ़ाया भारत माँ का मान।।

#BharatKeRajiv को कृतज्ञ राष्ट्र का कोटिशः नमन…”
