On Wednesday, the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAM) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi quit the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA.) The former Bihar Chief Minister Manjhi joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal led Grand Alliance.

A statement released said the formal announcement will be done tonight. This comes after Manjhi a meeting with RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s wife Rabri Devi at his residence. After the closed door meeting on Wednesday Mr. Manhi announced he would quit the NDA.

Manjhi was keen on contesting for the Jehanabad Assembly Seat in Bihar but the BJP requested the ruling party Janata Dal (United) to contest the seat. The JD(U) nominated Abhiram Sharma as the party candidate. This move by the BJP upset the Dalit leader and decided to quit.
