On the 15th of February, Tuesday, YouTube has terminated the account of the Sansad TV channel. The termination was based on the violation of YouTube community guidelines.
Notably, Sansad TV Channel, which shows live broadcasts of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha proceedings is said to be hacked. Some unknown hackers attacked the handle in the early hours of Tuesday. The hackers renamed the YouTube channel as “Ethereum” (Cryptocurrency.)
In an official statement, the Parliament of India said that the YouTube Channel of Sansad TV was compromised due to unauthorized activities by some scamsters on February 15 at 01:00 A.M. The attackers changed the name of the handle to ‘Ethereum’. “However, Sansad TV’s social media team promptly worked on it and got the Sansad TV Channel restored by early morning at around 03:45 am,”
Despite the restoration, the YouTube channel has been suspended for violations.
As of now, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the nodal agency for responding to cyber security in India, has also reported the above incident and alerted Sansad TV.
After restoration, the YouTube channel has said, they are working to fix the issue and would remove threats permanently, and restore the channel as soon as possible.
