In Goa, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going to have a landslide victory, after it secured 20 seats, on the 10th of March, Thursday.

After rounds of voting, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the BJP Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to win 20 Assembly seats in Goa.  According to a source of the ECI, Mr. Pramod Sawant, the Goa Chief Minister and BJP MLA candidate won the election from his traditional Sanquelim Assembly constituency.

Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, the former Maharashtra CM and BJP member congratulated the BJP for their victory and said, “Thank You Goa!Congratulations Goankars!!Thank you for once again showing faith in the able & strong leadership of Hon PM @narendramodi ji.People of India are with Hon Modi ji,his developmental initiatives,policies & schemes.People of Goa voted for development & better future.”

Furthermore, Mr. P. Chidambaram, a leader of the Indian National Congress (INC,) took to Twitter and accepted the defeat.  The tweet read, “We accept the verdict of the people of Goa. Our candidates fought bravely, despite several obstacles… People have voted BJP to power and we accept that. In several constituencies, we lost with very small margins.”

As of vote counting trend at 5:23 P.M., the BJP won 20 seats and the INC won 9 seats.

The Goa Assembly elections were conducted on the 14th of February for 40 seats.  To form the State Government, any political party needs to have a majority mark of 21 seats.
