Out of the total 1,65, 799 cases of the Novel Coronavirus in India, 70 % of cases are from 13 cities of Indian states.

Out of all 13 cities of India alone reported 1,16,059.3 cases in India till the 29th of May.  The cities are Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi / New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Thane, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata / Howrah, Indore , Jaipur, Jodhpur, Chengalpattu and Thiruvallur.

The date was revealed by the Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, who conducted a meeting with chief secretaries of Indian states.

The meeting was conducted on the afternoon of the 28th of May, to discuss the post lockdown strategies and situation of their respective states in terms of COVID-19.

The cabinet secretary asked the cities to define the containment zones geographically based on the factors like cases, contacts and geographical dispersion.

To control the spread of the virus, especially in these 13 cities, the Union Cabinet Secretary asked for a  top-to-bottom approach for geographical mapping, monitoring and isolation of cities and districts worst hit by the coronavirus outbreak.

The lockdown 4.0., is proposed to end on the 31st of May.
