A day after Jyotiraditya Scindia, the former Indian National Congress (INC) member resigned from the INC, the Madhya Pradesh Economic Offences Wing (EOW) reopened forgery cases against Mr. Scindia.  Though the case is from 2009, a fresh complaint was filed on the 12th of March.

The EOW of Madhya Pradesh decided to investigate the facts of a fresh complaint against Jyotiraditya Scindia and his family, accused of forging  property documents .

An EOW official said, “Yes, an order has been given for reverification of facts in the complaint filed by Surendra Shrivastava.”

Surendra Shrivastava filed a new complaint against Mr. Scindia and his family and alleged them of registering false documents of a land in Mahalgaon which was sold to Mr. Shrivastava.  According to the complaint, Mr. Scindia sold him the land which was 6,000 square feet less, than the one mentioned in the agreement in 2009.

The first Information Report (FIR) for the forgery case, was filed on the 26th of March 2014 .   However, the case was closed in 2018.

On the 12th of March, the EOW officer once again reopened the case and said, “As he (Surendra Shrivastava) again petitioned us today, we will re verify the facts.” the officer said.

Pankaj Chaturvedi, a close friend of Mr. Scindia, deemed the case to be a political conspiracy, because Mr. Scindia joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)  He said, “The case had been closed for want of evidence. Now for vengeance, it is being reopened. We have full faith in the Constitution and law. We will get justice and Kamal Nath government a befitting reply.”

Besides Jyotiraditya Scindia, 22 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of the INC, also submitted their resignations.

The situation in Madhya Pradesh for the Kamal Nath led Government is said to be tense as there are chances the Government would collapse in the State.

If the resignations of all 22 MLAs including 6 ministers are accepted, the INC Government would lose its majority MLAs number and fall to 99, whereas the BJP has 107 making it the largest political party in M.P.

The majority mark to form the Government in M.P., is 116.
