Both the camps have claimed rights for this symbol for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections. Ram Gopal Yadav submitted affidavits of the party MLA’s, MP’s and MLC’s showing their alliegence to the CM Akilesh Yadav. Mulayam Singh Yadav claimed that as he is the party president he wants the party united.

Until the EC gives any declaration, both the camps cannot fight election with the same symbol for the elections. Earlier the Samajwadi party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav approached Lok Dal chief seeking the possibility of contesting elections with Lok Dal symbol if the Election Commission rejectes Mulayam’s claim or decides to freeze it.
