Days after the horrific Odisha Balasore Triple train accident, another mishap was reported in Odisha.

On the night of the 8th of June, an AC Coach of Durg-Puri Express (18426) caught fire due to technical brake glitch.  Getting into the details,  the incident occurred at Khariar Road station in Nuapada district, Odisha.  The brakes of the B3 coach were reportedly not released after alarm chain pulling (ACP,) following which the brake pads caught fire due to friction after the incomplete release of brakes.

After the brakes weren’t fully released, friction caused the brake pads to catch fire, confirmed the concerned official.   Furthermore, the East Coast Railway also released an official statement and said that no injuries or damages were reported as the fire was seen only at brake pads.  Notably, the problem was fixed later and the train resumed its journey at 11:00 P.M.

This is the second such incicdent after the tragic Balasore train clash, reported in Odisha.  Earlier on the 7th of  June, at least six laborers were killed and two others critically injured in Odisha’s Jajpur Keonjhar Road railway station after being run over by a goods train.
