Ms. Droupadi Murmu, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the 2022 Presidential elections, filed her nomination papers.

On the 24th of June, Friday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led NDA’s nominee Droupadi Murmu filed her nomination papers in the presence of Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Amit Shah, the Home Minister of India, Mr. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and other BJP leaders.

Mr. Narendra Modi handed the set of papers to Returning Officer (RO) Mr. P.C. Mody, at the Parliament Building, Delhi.

Besides the NDA leaders, the leaders of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Mr. V. Vijaysai Reddy and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Mr. Sasmit Patra, also attended the nomination filing process of the NDA Presidential candidate.  In addition, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader Mr. O. Paneerselvam and M. Thambidurai, JD-U’s Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Singh also reached Parliament early.

It is to be noted, Ms. Droupadi Murmu gained support from the non NDA leaders, as if elected, Ms. Droupadi Murmu would be the first tribal president and the second woman in the post.
