Draupadi Murmu, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the 2022 Presidential elections has officially been declared as the 15th President of India.

The announcement came in the late hours of the 21st of July, Friday, after rounds of vote counting. Mr. P.C. Mody, the General Secretary of Rajya Sabha and the Revenue Officer (RO) in charge of the Presidential elections made the official announcement. In the late hours of July 21, after several rounds of counting, the RS General Secretary and Presidential elections RO PC Mody announced the results. President Murmu won 6,76,803 value-votes, whereas Sinha secured 3,80,177 votes.

Mr. P.C. Mody said, “President Elections concluded with declaration of results 4,754 votes polled, out of which 4,701 were valid & 53 invalid…The quota for a candidate to be elected the president was 5,28,491.”

Notably, Ms. Draupadi Murmu won with a huge margin against Mr. Yashwant Sinha, the Presidential candidate of the opposition, the United Progressive Alliance.

Furthermore, Draupadi Murmu will take the office oath as the new President of India, on the 25th of July.

Notably, the outgoing President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind’s term is ending on the 24th of July.
