Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s body, wrapped in a tri-colour, was taken to the airport in a gun carriage from his residence 10 Rajaji Marg. The officials and commoners bid farewell to the former President on Wednesday morning at 8:30am.

Venkaiah Naidu the Union Urban Development Minister and Manohar Parrik Defence Minister have accompanied the mortal remains of Kalam to Rameswaram, home town of Dr Kalam.

Tamilnadu Cheif Minister Jayalalithaa will not be attending the funeral due to ill health.
Special Ganga prayers were offered as the tribute to the late former President at Varanasi. First the aircraft will fly to Maduri, from there the mortal remains will be flown to Rameswaram by an IAF helicopter.
The funeral of Dr Kalam will be held in his hometown Rameswaram, on Thursday, with Trio honours.
