The National Capital Delhi witnessed cold waves with temperatures below 7 degrees Celsius in December.

On the 27th of December, Tuesday, the city witnessed extreme cold weather and a breeze colder than Nainital, a hill station of Uttarakhand.  The people of Delhi woke up to the fog with a minimum temperature of 5.6 degrees.  In comparison to Delhi’s cold weather, hill station Nainital reported a minimum temperature of 7 degrees Celsius.  

Besides Delhi, a few regions of Haryana, Punjab and Uttarakhand also reported dense to very dense fog conditions, alerting those driving cars. 

 In addition, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted severe conditions for Delhi and said, “Cold Day/Severe Cold Day Conditions very likely in some parts over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and West Rajasthan and cold day conditions in isolated pockets over Uttarakhand on 26th and 27th December 2022.”

Meanwhile, due to dense fog and extremely cold weather, the air quality of Delhi is said to be under the poor category.
