On the 9th of March, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia presented the budget for 2021-2022.

On the second day of the Delhi Assembly Budget session, Mr. Sisodia presented Delhi’s first paperless budget.

Today, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led Delhi Government presented Delhi’s seventh budget in the Vidhan Sabha. Mr. Sisodia presented the budget 2021-2022 through a tablet device.

Mr. Sisodia who began the budget presentation at 11:00 A.M., said the budget theme is “deshbhakti.” He added, this budget would celebrate 75 years of independence.

The Delhi Deputy CM said the allocation of funds for a series of events would be held across the city over a span of 75 weeks. This event would begin from the 12th of March for 75 weeks.

Addressing the Assembly Mr. Sisodia said, “Today I present this ‘Deshbhakti Budget’ in view of the Centre’s celebrations of India’s 75 years of independence with 75 weeks as ‘Deshbhakti Mahotsav’ starting on March 12. This Budget will focus on India’s 75 as well as 100 years of independence.”

This year, 2021-2022 the outlay of the Delhi Budget proposed by the AAP is Rs. 69,000 crores, highest till date.

In addition, Delhi’s per capita income, which has been the second highest in India after Goa’s for years now, dropped from Rs. 3,76,211 in 2019-2020 to Rs. 3,54,004 in 2020-2021.

Mr. Sisodia said the Delhi population is likely to reach 3.28 crore by 2047. He said, “We have to set up infrastructure keeping that in mind. The budget will share the government’s vision on that.” He said by 2047, we aim to make Delhi’s per capita income equivalent to that in Singapore. Mr. Sisodia said,”It is difficult but not impossible.”

Highlights of Delhi Budget 2021-2022:

The Delhi Government allocated Rs. 45 crores for installation of high masts with national flags at 500 places in Delhi.

Announced entrepreneurship classes for students of standards 9 to 12. Total Rs. 2,000 per student seed money to develop entrepreneurship skills among children.

Virtual Delhi model school to be launched with the aim of anytime learning, anytime testing.

Delhi Government to create atmosphere and infrastructure for sports with an aim to host Olympics after 25 year, when we will be celebrating 100 years of our freedom.

Delhi budget allocates Rs. 9,934 crores for health sector

Allocates Rs. 50 crores for free COVID-19 vaccination at government hospitals.

From next year, the Delhi government will launch special ‘Mahila Mohalla clinics’ for women.”

Allocates Rs. 10 crores for programmes on Baba Saheb Ambedkar during 75-week “Deshbhakti” celebrations.

The Delhi Government allocates Rs. 16,377 for education, about 25% of the total budget 2021-2022.

The Delhi Budget session 2021-2022 began from the 8th of March and would continue till the 16th of March
