Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, moved ahead with his approach of having Goddess Lakshmi and Ganesh images on then new Indian currencies.

On the 28th of October, Thursday, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, the Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wrote to Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi.  He also tweeted about the same tagging the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Mr. Narendra Modi.

The tweet shared in Hindi read, “मैंने प्रधानमंत्री जी को पत्र लिखकर 130 करोड़ भारतवासियों की ओर से निवेदन किया है कि भारतीय करेंसी पर महात्मा गांधी जी के साथ-साथ लक्ष्मी गणेश जी की तस्वीर भी लगाई जाए।”

(I have written a letter to the Prime Minister, requesting on behalf of 130 crore Indians that the picture of Lakshmi Ganesh ji should also be put on the Indian currency along with Mahatma Gandhi.)

 Mr. Arvind Kejriwal said that including the photos of the God and Goddess alongside that of Mahatma Gandhi would bring prosperity to India.  He further clarified that he is not asking to remove the image of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi from notes, but to add images of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.  He further said, “Every day new currency notes are printed.  These pictures can be added then.”

Moreover, on the 27th of October, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference and proposed the same suggestion, which received the support of the people. “People are very excited by this, everyone wants this to be implemented at the earliest,” said Mr. Arvind Kejriwal.
