The deadly Novel Coronavirus also known as COVID-19, infected 110 people in India and killed 3 till date.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 15th of March, conducted a video conference with the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries. During the conference, PM Modi proposed to set up emergency funds for the disease.  Mr. Modi proposed setting up a COVID-19 emergency fund with India giving 10 million dollars initially.

Besides India, the SAARC countries like Sri Lankan, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan also proposed help to fight the disease.

On the 15th of March, the Union Health Ministry, updated about COVID-19 and said 110 positive cases were reported in India so far, out of which the highest number of cases are from Kerala and Maharashtra.

Kerala reported 22 cases, Maharashtra 17, Delhi 7, Uttar Pradesh 12, Karnataka 6, Telangana 3, Ladakh 3, Jammu and Kashmir 2, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab reported 1 case each.

Meanwhile, all the state governments issued notifications to close all public places like shopping malls, theatres, parks and schools.   Offices are also asked to issue work from home to their employees till the 31st of March.

A few state governments also implemented the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, which gives authority to impose rules and take measures to control the situation.

The Eastern Railway also suspended services of the Maitree and Bandhan Express trains from the 15th of March the 15th of April.  Visas have been suspended for all foreign travellers till the 15th of April, train services and airlines are also facing crisis due to the shut down. 

Delhi, Assam, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Punjab announced complete shut down.

Fourteen states and 2 union territories reported positive cases of the Novel Coronavirus.
