After Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 24th of March, announced a 21 day lockdown, India reported 11 deaths and 562 positive cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

Mr. Modi, on the 24th of March at 8:00 P.M., addressed the nation through the television medium and announced a 21 day lockdown across India as a precautionary measure.

Tamil Nadu reported its first death on the 25th of March.  A 54 year old man who was COVID-19, died at a hospital.

C. Vijayabaskar, the Health Minister of Tamil Nadu, reported the death.  Mr. Vijayabaskar said, “Despite our best efforts, the COVID-19 positive patient at MDU, Rajaji Hospital, passed away… he had a medical history of prolonged illness with steroid dependent COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), uncontrolled diabetes with hypertension.” 

Despite 47 COVID-19 patient’s recovery, the number increasing day by day is disappointing.

The lockdown till the 15th of April, is a chance for India to recover and reduce the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.
