The sudden price hike of tomatoes in India has started the political blame game.

On the 27th of June, Mr. Jairam Ramesh, a senior leader of the Indian National Congress (INC) took to Twitter and blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) behind the price hike.

Taking to Twitter, Mr. Jairam Ramesh said, “प्रधानमंत्री ने Tomato, Onion और Potato को ‘TOP’ प्राथमिकता बताया था।

(The Prime Minister had described Tomato, Onion and Potato as ‘TOP’ priority. But because of his wrong policies… the first tomatoes fall on the road Then it is sold for 100 rupees a kg!)

The statement came after the prices for tomatoes touched sky, burning pockets of people in India.

(This is the situation without the implementation of the new agricultural law, if it had been implemented, Adani would have sold tomatoes at Rs. Yes, the government should curb the hoarders, the prices will come down to the ground.)
