The farmers agitation against the three farm bills continued for the 14th day in New Delhi.

Despite several talks with the Central Government, there is no solution for the ongoing protests.

The farmers associations declined to accept the amendments which the Central Government proposed.

Instead, the farmers association demanded to scrap all the three agri laws introduced by the Bharatiya Janata Party led, the Central Government.

The agitation against the three laws started in September, after the Central Government proposed the laws in the Parliament.

As of now, the Central Government sent a fresh proposal to the protesting farmers.

The proposal include:

– At present, the farmer does not have the right to approach the court in the contract farming law, in which case the government can amend it to include the right to go to court.

– Private players can presently work with the help of PAN cards, but farmers brought up the registration system.  The Government could accept this condition.

– Apart from this, the Government also would agree to some tax on private players.

 – According to farmer leaders, Amit Shah has talked about some changes in the MSP system and the mandi system according to the convenience of the farmers.

Meanwhile, farmer leaders held their informal discussions at the Singhu border on the Delhi-Ambala route.

The All Kisan Sabha Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) would discuss the written proposal during a farmer’s association meeting, which started at 12 noon.  The meeting is currently underway.

Mr. Hannah Mollah, the General Secretary of the AIKSCC said, “If the writing is on amendment, our position is very clear.  If it’s on (the) repeal of the Bill, only then can we take note of it and consider.  That meeting (today’s meeting with Centre) is cancelled.  If (the) letter comes and we consider it positive, (the) meeting can be held tomorrow (the 10th of December.)”

However, an official announcement regarding tomorrow’s meeting is yet to be made.

Stay tuned for further updates.
